The Blurb:Never has Aman needed a friend more than when a Springier Spaniel appears in the month of his Afghan cave the dog becomes a constant companion, a Shadow and that's what Aman decides to call her.
But life becomes more dangerous by the moment. Eventually, Aman and Shadow find the courage to leave. But how far can Shadow lead them? And in this terrifying new world, is anywhere really safe...?

My Thoughts:
This Book is about a boy called Arman who with his mother has been placed in a detention center to be transported back to Afghanistan and his friend Matt and Matt Grandpa who goes to visit Arman in the Detention center and that is were we hear about Arman story of survival living in a cave with his mum and grandmother but most importantly its a story about a dog called Shadow who befriends Arman and leads him and his mother on there journey towards England. This story was fantastic read I cried I cheered I was shocked and I enjoyed this book. This book tackles a tough subject of War and the people who are affected by War and that its not just the person escaping from a country to a new country but the effects that is has on friends and family. This is a lovely tale of friendship between a dog and a boy who find each other and help each other get through a difficult time. Michael Morpurgos writing is lovely to read he has a way of tackling tough subjects for children to be able to understand and this book will relate to any child and adult a like. The pictures in this book are also rather well done by the Talented Mr Christian Birmingham and it was a lovely read. I give this book 5/5 stars for this lovely read. This book Also contains some really lovely illustrations by Christian Birmingham they are so detailed and lovely to look at while reading along it really makes the story.
